Wonderful care and support

“To the manager and your wonderful team at K Lodge. Thank you all so much for the wonderful care and support you give to my mum who has been with you for about a year and a half. It’s so comforting and heartwarming knowing that she is happy and so well looked after. It’s so good to know that I can rely on you to let me know when mum has needed medical intervention. I also appreciate how welcome you make me feel when I phone or visit - this means such a lot and it’s so nice to get to know you all, see the bond that you all have with mum and how happy that makes her. Have to add a special shout-out to the Activity Coordinator, who I’ve spoken to many times, who arranges the fun activities and keeps us, the relatives, up to speed with fab photos included in the monthly newsletter. And to the member of staff, who, when I visit has helped me to resist the temptation to hug my mum during this awful COVID time - I love that you have hugged her and cared for her so well. So, thank you so much.”

She always seems so happy and I know she is well looked after

“Brookdale have been fantastic with Mum, she always seems so happy and I know she is well looked after, nothing is too much trouble. I often turned up at the window without them knowing and they would happily bring Mum over to talk to me. Now Rainbow Retreat is up and running we can all stay warm and love the one to one connection we now have, obviously we long for the day we can actually give her a kiss. All the staff are lovely and pleasant which makes you feel very comfortable knowing Mum is being well cared for.”

The staff were very friendly

“My friend resided at K Lodge for a respite period and we were really pleased with the experience. The staff were very friendly and caring and always had a smile on their face. We were always kept up to date with changes. I saw their newsletter and looks really good and it was lovely to see what is happening in the home. My friend made friends in the short period of time and settled in very well. Overall we were happy with the service.”

Engage all the residents in activities

“The care home staff are always busy taking care of the residents as you would expect, however during the pandemic they have gone above and beyond to engage all the residents in activities to keep them stimulated and keeping their spirits up. It’s been a joy to see how they have been motivating the residents and staff in their pictures posted on Facebook.”

The staff always have a smile on their faces

“Brookdale have shown care, compassion and understanding from the day my dad went into care. The staff are always helpful and always have a smile on their faces. There are plenty of activities for residents to take part in.”

Amazing care home, cannot fault one thing about this place

“My dad was cared for hereafter he was given a terminal cancer diagnosis which also affected him mentally. This was very challenging for the staff as they had never dealt with this before and my dad was so poorly. We will be eternally grateful for the way they cared for my dad, the managers along with other members of their team treated him with such dignity and respect and we never worried when we had to leave him in their care. They treated him like they would treat their own family. They also supported us through what was a very difficult time and we wouldn’t have been able to get through it without them.”

Great team effort by all the staff there

“Recently caught up with a family member regarding my old neighbour who resides at the care home and he was telling me all about the fantastic work that goes on within the home. With help of my son over Facebook, we managed to see the residents of Brookdale went on a bus ride to Blackpool which under the current circumstances is a great team effort by all the staff there, making sure everything is accounted for but at the same time giving the residents a trip away and many memories made I am sure. I am still isolating a lot of the time but I am looking forward to coming to see my old friend soon.”

The staff were extremely patient and caring

“My mother moved into Brookdale one week before her 100th birthday, suffering from delirium and dementia, very distressed, agitated and refusing to stay. We stayed away for a few days for her to settle in. The staff were extremely patient and caring and we were relieved to see her smiling on a video of celebrating her 100th birthday. Each time we visited or phoned, the staff were welcoming and ready to tell us how Mum was doing. The care Mum received, when at times agitated and uncooperative, was excellent and we were confident she was being well looked after.”

Without a doubt Brookdale must be at least one of the top care homes in UK.

“All the staff without exception are exemplary, they are friendly and know your name and always make you feel very welcome. Chose this care home because my mum was the happiest there (it is a 32 mile round trip unfortunately). Everyone is so friendly and loving towards my mum. I always know she is in good hands and safe. Keep up the good work guys, you should be proud of yourselves.”

The staff are lovely and care for my Nan so wonderfully.

“Three ladies especially just make my nans day. I love having my lunch with her and the care home makes that possible. They keep us regularly updated with the activities they do and photos and videos are always being posted. Couldn’t ask for more.”

Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff

“First impressions when we came to visit was as soon as we entered, we knew this was the place for our mum. The staff answered all our queries, making it a smooth transition for Mum and us, to have peace of mind that the care and the home were right. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, all the staff smile (even when they are having a rubbish day themselves). Overall, the family are pleased that Mum is being cared for with respect and dignity.”
